What helps us become better readers?

Hello my fabulous fifth graders! :)

I hope you are having a magnificent weekend, and that all of you who are home sick are feeling better and will be back with us tomorrow! Yesterday, I went to the Alabama game with some of my friends and I found myself "thinking like a writer" like we talked about in class. I looked around the stadium and found ways to use many of the words you found in your thesaurus digs this week. I hope you are finding yourself noticing ways to use your improved vocabulary, too! :)

This morning, I am reading for one of my classes at school and our assignment this week is about what makes us better readers. Does that sound familiar? :) Could you please help me with my thinking and tell me what you think makes you a better reader or a better writer? There isn't a wrong answer...I'd just like to know what you think!

    I think that when you partner read that your partner should listen and after they read they should tell the person what they need to work on and what they did good on. ily Tyler<3

    Tyler, I think that is a fantastic idea! We can learn so much from each other by giving each other positive support and criticism that helps us improve as learners. Great thinking!!

    you can also when you read you can write down your thoughts and when you end the chapter look and see what you wrote down and see if you thought right or wrong.

    You are absolutely right! That reminds me of what we have been discussing in reading the past two weeks. Making predictions before and while reading and checking up on those predictions is a very important part of carrying on that inner conversation as you read. Keep up the good work!

    what are black holes! I want to know about them. are there black holes, a round our soalorstem. that would be cool. But in your case it would be scary. Is there planets a side earth that we could breath on? from:chance
